The majority of the portraits are oil on canvas. Also, they were mostly commissioned pieces. My process when I approach a portrait painting is firstly to hang out and interview the the subject. I find out their favorite things and their least favorite things. I take lots of pictures of them and then I go home and get to work. I try to incorporate as many little interesting things as I can so that I am not just painting a picture of them, but a picture about them.
